Guarantee and safe use

The legal guarantee

Goods sold to consumers in Spain carry a legal guarantee of conformity of three years from delivery. If a tool does not match its description, or does not work as that kind of tool should, you are entitled to have it repaired or replaced, and failing that to a price reduction or a refund. For the first two years a fault that appears is assumed to have been there from the start.

This is a legal right and it costs nothing. It sits alongside any manufacturer warranty rather than replacing it.

What it does not cover

• Consumables: grinding and cutting discs, electrodes, solder, tips
• Normal wear – batteries losing capacity with age, sockets polishing smooth
• Damage from dropping, misuse, or running a tool beyond its rating

Grinding

• Eye protection is not optional. A 115 mm disc at 7000 rpm throws fragments at head height.
• Check the disc is rated for at least the tool’s speed, and for the material.
• Let the tool reach speed before it touches the work, and let it stop on its own.
• Never remove the guard.

Welding

• A proper welding helmet, not sunglasses. The arc damages eyes in seconds and the burn is not felt at the time.
• Cover skin. Arc light burns like strong sun, through a single thin layer.
• Ventilate. Fumes from electrodes and from coated or galvanised metal are harmful.
• Nothing flammable within several metres, and something to put out a fire within reach.
• Let the machine cool. The overheat cut-out is a protection, not a schedule.

Soldering

• The tip reaches several hundred degrees and does not look hot. Use the stand.
• Ventilate: flux fumes are an irritant.
• Switch it off at the tool rather than leaving it live between jobs.

Batteries

Charge with the charger supplied, indoors, and do not leave a pack on charge for days. Store dry and above freezing, at roughly half charge if it will sit unused.
